Cover page of Stephen King’s novel, The Shining. This early copy, which Kubrick received before the novel was published, has a different title - “THE SHINE” - than what King ultimately used.
The page is filled with copious notes from Kubrick, including early ideas for alternate endings, as well as some thoughts about Wendy’s character and why she’s stayed with Jack despite his many problems.

Thoughts as I make films: Barry's House - Doomsdays

calvinrobertson:

Eddie Mullins (director of Doomsdays) and I stopped by the home of an old Kingston man named Barry, to check it out as a possible location for the film. Barry welcomed us in quietly, as if he was expecting us, and didn’t seem disturbed in the least that we were wandering around his home; he…

“This scene is a perfect example of the power of the steadicam. Incredible actors who speak from the heart also help.”

“Dear Filmmaker, The 16th Annual Palm Springs International ShortFest & Film Market this year received over 3,000 submissions for consideration. While we regret to inform you that your film was not chosen to play at the festival itself, we were stunned by the exceptional filmmaking and storytelling quality of all the films submitted this year…”

“I think it’s fantastic. The acting, the dialogue, the lighting, the camerawork, the color palette… Everything is fantastic in the film. I think you should send it to film festivals… Give a copy of the film when you are done.”

“As in student film goes, is really really good. Has a lot of potential. Everything is really good in the film. Now these are my notes…”

Aqualung (feat. Sara Bareilles) “Remember Us”. I found this song a few days before I started editing and I loved it. I didn’t planned to use it but somehow made me try it on and the cues of the song are like made perfectly to fit the mood of that particular scene.

Laura Jansen “Use Somebody”. Rarely a cover is better than the original song and this time miss Jansen has made a much better song than Kings of Leon. Her voice and her mood changed the song to a more melancholic version it. Suits the mood of the film and always in love with the lyrics.

Superlitio “Te Lastime” (Piano Version). I couldn’t find this version of the song in YouTube so I put here the best version of the song but I couldn’t use it so I found an amazing version which is shorter and more romantic. I have been always fan of Superlitio and this song is one of the best they have done.
